Trial Assembly & Off-Site Modular Builds

Global Projects Delivered Faster Through Off-Site Assembly

With most of our projects exported across Africa and around the world, off-site assembly and trial fitment have become essential parts of how we de-risk projects.

By assembling and testing major equipment in our controlled assembly yard, we reduce site work, shorten installation timelines and significantly improve project safety.

Our Facilties

Our expanded facilities footprint includes 16 500m² of under-crane workshops and a 5 000m² yard area, enabling partial or full assemblies across steelwork, platework, mechanical (including belt splicing), piping and electrical disciplines before dispatch.

These facilities support our clients project execution strategies to assemble as much off site as possible. This reduces on site crews and associated messing and feeding costs, reduces site installation times and reduces risks associated with site installations.

We complete full or partial assembly of off-site modular builds which include steelwork, platework, mechanical (including belt splicing), piping and electrical disciplines before dispatch to site.

Our extensive yard space and storage areas allows safe delivery and storage of free issued mechanical components before assembly. Off-sites modular builds in our workshops allows us to handle complex assemblies safely while site actives such as civils can be completed simultaneously.

Off-site assembly is a deliberate strategy used to control cost, time and safety risks. Completing as much work as possible in the workshop:

  • Reduces the amount of work required on site
  • Shortens overall site durations
  • Reduces the amount of site personnel
  • Reduces direct and indirect site-based costs
  • Dramatically reduces site safety risks

A recent example includes our award-winning 11 Belt Feeders project for Virta Inc. (USA), which was shipped fully assembled to Chile (South America), showcasing the significant benefits of our off-site assembly strategy for clients worldwide.

This approach is particularly valuable for remote or logistically challenging sites.

Our facilities and capabilities allow us to trial-fit structures of any scale.

A recent example is the 350-ton ROM bin assembled in our workshop before corrosion protection and delivered to site with zero installation queries.

The additional crane coverage and yard space across our facilities allow us to trial assemble large, multi-component structures safely and efficiently giving our clients peace of mind that every component will fit perfectly on site.

Off-site assembly provides exceptional quality advantages. All work is completed in a controlled environment under supervision and to quality assurance plans. This results in:

  • Inter disciplinary interface assurance
  • Early identification and resolution of any problems
  • Clear documentation and traceability for client quality assurance
  • Sign-off before dispatch

Our teams manage the full quality assurance process, ensuring standards and specifications are met before dispatch to site.

Our assembly and dispatch teams prepare and dispatch all pre-assembled items for a co-ordinated delivery to site, guaranteeing a smooth installation process on site.
