Quality Inspector
Description
Viva Engineering is looking for an experienced Quality Control Inspector to join our team.
The role will be responsible for conducting visual and dimensional inspections, verifying fabrication and welding quality, and ensuring that structural steelwork meets engineering drawings, project specifications and applicable quality standards.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, technically strong and experienced in structural steel fabrication, quality documentation and inspection processes within a demanding engineering environment.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- SAIW QC Level 1 qualification (minimum requirement)
- Valid Code 8 driver’s license
- Approximately 7 years’ experience in structural steel fabrication and quality inspection
- Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding, and quality inspection processes
- Ability to interpret engineering and fabrication drawings accurately
- Experience with visual and dimensional inspections of fabricated steel structures
- Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) processes and report verification
- Experience compiling quality documentation and data books
- Understanding of ISO quality standards and quality management systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); Strumis experience is advantageous
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Team player with the ability to build positive relationships with clients, suppliers, and colleagues
- Proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement
- Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and a strong commitment to safety.
