Viva Engineering’s scope included the structural design, fabrication, rubber lining, and corrosion protection before delivery to the site in the DRC.
The 6 Reactor tanks are 9.9m in diameter, and 11.6m high with each tank weighing 44T.
Due to the remote location of the mine in the DRC, detailed planning and design consideration had to be given to the challenges of logistics while optimising logistics and giving consideration to the constructability of the project.
The Reactors were built in workshop jigs to ensure repeatability and absolute accuracy, such that when assembled on site, the Reactors were fitted without a single flange hole out of place on the rubber-lined Reactors.
Transport to the site was equally as challenging with transport cradles being designed in order to optimise the transport deck space, minimise the number of loads and ensure the integrity of the items being transported to the site.
The balance of the plant included complete buildings and many other complex tanks and platework.
