This project is a testament to the complexities of underground work
Zimplats developed Portal 4 underground mining in a North and Southerly direction. This required the detailing, fabrication supply and the installation of free issued mechanical equipment of two systems simultaneously whilst catering for the continued changes in underground profiles as mining was developed.
Massive underground ROM tip bins, primary crushing stations and many kilometres of conveyors were supplied and installed as part of this development.
Quality is critical as modifications to steelwork underground is limited. Installation completed with a perfect safety record
